We are the third party across Crystal Palace, and contest every seat in every election in the area.
There are no elections scheduled in the area at the moment.
The most recent election was a by-election in Gipsy Hill (Lambeth) triggered by the sad death of a sitting councillor.
Our candidate Pete Elliot came within 36 votes of beating the Labour candidate, with a massive 32% rise in the vote!
Here are some other recent election results showing the total votes for five wards in our local area – College (Southwark), Crystal Palace (Bromley), Gipsy Hill (Lambeth), Sydenham (Lewisham) and Upper Norwood (Croydon).
The London Assembly is elected with a form of proportional representation, so across London enough people voted Green to get two members into the 25-strong chamber. Crystal Palace has an above-average Green vote for London!
In the 2015 General Election we made big gains in the three constituencies bounding our area:
- Lewisham West & Penge – Tom Chance came third with 8.5% of the vote, up to 1.9% in 2010.
- Dulwich & West Norwood – Rashid Nix came fourth with 9.4% of the vote
- Croydon North – Shasha Khancame fourth with 4.9% of the vote.
In those local elections, four in ten people voted for other parties, but got no representation in the area. All fourteen councillors elected were Labour Party candidates. Outside of elections, the Green Party believes there are other ways to make a fairer, more sustainable world, but we need Greens in the room when important council decisions are made.
